Have Wand, Will Travel An Update, the Blurb, & $.99 Bargains

Image
I've finished HAVE WAND, WILL TRAVEL. It's 34,421 words of fun and laughs.  I loved writing the novella, had the best time with my characters and several laugh out loud moments with them.  The novella will be released October 19th with a group of other authors' novellas. Here's a list of the ladies involved.  Here's a link to an earlier blog with links to free or $.99 books written by all the ladies.  http://mymusesmusings.blogspot.com/2016/09/checkout-october-magic-and-mayhem.html  I love my cover. Tracy Stewart my cover artist is fantastic.  My witch Zaira has a unusual familiar. His name is Cerbie and he is a direct descendant of Cerberus the dog that guards the gates of hell. He's a stubby Jack Russell terrier with an attitude. Just like my daughter's dog Colby. Here's the blurb:  A soul-sucking wand, a witch, a vampire and a hellhound.  ‘Nuff said.    Private detective and gifted witch Zaira...

Where did STEAMPUNK come from?

Image
Steampunk is a genre inspired by a mixture of the real industrialization of Victorian and Edwardian England and the science fiction literature penned during the period. Authors such as Jules Verne, H.G. Wells, Edgar Rice Burroughs, and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle are all considered influences of the genre. Ask anyone who has written a Steampunk story and they'll admit to having read some or all of these authors. I have. AN AUTOMATED DEATH The term Steampunk came about in the 1980's Until that time, the genre was called cyberpunk or just Victorian Fantasy. Writer K.W. Jeter was given credit for the Steampunk moniker. It was an apt description because of the steam powered engines developed during the Victorian Era and the manipulation that writers of the 1980's through today use to hype the history to include more and more fanciful inventions that pushed the genre. Because the stories written during the real Era were so imaginative and built around that grain of ...

APOTHEOSIS OF THE IMMORTAL BY JOSHUA CHAUDRY

Image
A very good friend and former student of mine has just released his first novel. It is hands down the most creative take on the vampire myth I've ever read. So, I wanted to help him spread the word. I've read the book and it's fantastic. Congratulations Josh Chaudry on a book well written!!! APOTHEOSIS Elijah’s family is savagely butchered while he lies helpless, forced to witness the carnage until a vicious blow to the head mercifully ends his agony.  But at some point during that terrible night he is baptized in blood and birthed into immortality. As his body rises once more, his mind and heart solidify with a clear and immutable purpose: to hunt down the beings responsible for his loved ones’ deaths and destroy them, whatever the cost. Since everything pure and sacred has been ripped from his soul, a great abyss now separates Elijah from his humanity. He is driven by blood lust, the ever-present mountain of rage that provokes him to kill any and all who get ...

Amy Durham's New YA Release DUSK

Image
I'm an eclectic reader. I read everything from Horror to Young Adult, Erotic Romance to Children's Books. Give me a good book and I'll read it no matter what the genre. Amy Durham just released her new YA book DUSK . I've read her other books in the Sky Cove Series Once Again and Once And For All , both wonderful stories. So I had to get DUSK too, though it isn't one in the series. I love the cover. DUSK Zoe Gray lost her father... in more ways than one. Angry and bitter, Zoe spends the summer before her senior year of high school doing everything she can to forget, legal or not. But a close call triggers a reality check, and Zoe decides to put her life back together, a task that proves a lot harder than she thought. Adrian Shaw shows up on the first day of school, creating quite a stir with his striking good looks and gleaming black motorcycle. But Adrian is much more than a "biker boy", and as Zoe discovers, he may just hold the key she...

Timeless- Writing cross genre books

Image
Writing Timeless my Cross Genre-Paranormal- Science Fiction book Timeless I’m quickly learning that writing things out of the norm makes it difficult to sell books. My book Timeless sold 442 copies in the month of October.   And I’m proud of that. It’s a book that took me three years and a trip to Scotland to write. And I think it’s one of the best things I’ve ever written. But it hasn’t sold as well as my Navy SEAL romances. I know that military romance is BIG. And I love my Navy SEALs. They’re all alpha, macho, tough hot, and OMG handsome ---well you get the gist.   But Quinn Douglas is all those things and then some. He works in a specialized, very dangerous field of deep salvage diving. He plays the flute in his off weeks, because when you are saturated to a specific depth you usually work up to a month living inside the pot and going down as deep as you’re saturated. In my minds eye he’s Gerard Butler mixed with a little Adrian P...

Timeless Excerpt 1

Image
For the next week I'll be posting excerpts from my latest release, Timeless . I hope you'll tune in each day and check them out.   The water made the structure appear to lean toward her. Dwarfed by the dam’s looming height, she struggled to suppress her cloying claustrophobia. She swung her dive light back and forth searching for any sign of Henry. The ground gave way to a long downward slope. She drifted, following the deep ruts cut into the bank. At the sudden inexplicable increase in the water temperature, she hesitated. It didn’t feel like a natural current, but warmer, like a hot spring. Had the seal along the wrists and ankles of her dry suit broken, she would be experiencing the chill of the water, not a surge of warmth. For a moment, the circle of illumination her dive light provided seemed to expand as some of the sediment cleared. Worry brought a hollow emptiness to the pit of her stomach. Where was Henry? She couldn’t search any longer....
